As the Chhattisgarh Assembly elections in 2023 are approaching, the political equation in the state has started heating up. Both the major parties, BJP and Congress have started their preparations for the Assembly elections. This is the second visit of Mohan Bhagwat to Chhattisgarh in the last two months, which is also being linked to the elections.
Why Bhagwat's visit is crucial ?
Ahead of Assembly elections in 2023, Bhagwat's visit to the tribal area is crucial for several reasons. The political pundits as well as the intelligence department are keeping an close eye on the visit of RSS chief Dr. Mohan Bhagwat.
Chhattisgarh High Court has declared more than 50% reservation as unconstitutional. After this decision of the High Court, 32% reservation of tribals has now become 20%. There is resentment in the tribal society about this.
Congress and BJP are blaming each other, which has heated up the state politics. The Sarva Adivasi Samaj has announced an economic blockade on November 15 itself, while on November 9, the BJP is going to block the districts.
Conversion is a big issue in Jaspur area. Dilip Singh Judev has been the main face of Operation Ghar Wapsi. The judev family is associated with the BJP and has influence and the region. Dilip Singh judev had carried out ghar wapasi campaign in the tribal areas of north Chhattisgarh and now his son Prabal Pratap Singh judev is carrying forward the campaign.
RSS has been supportive of Ghar wapasi campaigns and bhagwats visit to the tribal area may give a push to the issues concerning hindutva and religious conversion in the area in the state that is due for assembly polls next year.
De-listing is also a big issue in these areas. There is a rising demand for not giving the benefit of reservation to the tribal families who converted. Overall, the RSS chief's visit is being speculated to send a broad message about above subjects.
