Raipur, 21 November 2021. In big breaking news coming in from Madhya Pradesh (MP), Chief Minister Shivraj Singh has announced to implement the Police Commissioner system in the two cities of the state. The two cities will be Bhopal, Administrative/Political Capital, and Indore, the Business Capital of the state.

Making the announcement on Sunday, Shivraj Singh said both the cities are expanding. Hence, bringing in the Police Commission system is important to curb crimes.

After the announcement of the Police Commissioner system in Bhopal and Indore, speculations of introducing the same system in Raipur are also going around. In fact, Chhattisgarh's first Chief Minister Ajit Jogi wanted to implement a police commissioner system, but the bureaucracy managed to convince him that a new state doesn't need a police commissioner system.

POLICE GETS THESE AUTHORITIES IN COMMISSIONER SYSTEM

Police will also get the authority of a magistrate. Presently, the police need to visit the Courts of Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Tehsildar in cases of minor offences such as prohibitory sections.

Police have to rely on SDM or Tehsildar in case of an accident. Since giving compensation comes under their jurisdiction. When the accident is followed by protest and Chakka Jam, police have to strenuously call Tehsildar. The commissioner system gives police the right to give compensation.

The power of issuing a gun license and taking action under the Arms Act also presently rests with the Collector. The commissioner system transfers the power to the police.
