Shri N. Baijendra Kumar, IAS, CMD, NMDC paying tributes to freedom fighters and architects of Indian Constitution on the occasion of Republic Day urged employees to overcome the challenges in the dynamic and fast changing markets.

Shri N. Baijendra Kumar in presence of Shri Amitava Mukherjee, Director (Finance); Shri Alok Kumar Mehta, Director (Commercial); Shri Sumit Deb, Director (Personnel); Shri V.V.S. Sreenivas, CVO emphasised Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s saying “I want all people to be Indians first, Indian last & nothing else but Indians” and also remembered great words of Father of the Nation – Mahatma Gandhiji “A Nation’s Culture resides in the hearts & in the souls of its people”.

Shri Kumar said it is the commitment, sincerity and dedication of employees which has made NMDC a strong company; strong not only in its technological, financial and operational fronts but also is having a strong bondage of belongingness amongst all the employees. To compliment and recognize the dedicated efforts of the employees, he announced Rs.5 crore towards employees welfare for the outstanding performing project of the company.

Shri Kumar on this occasion shared his happiness for getting extension of mining leases in Bailadila Region of Chhattisgarh; Allocation of two coal blocks located at Hazaribagh District of Jharkhand; Signing of MoU with Government of Andhra Pradesh for supply of iron ore to Integrated Steel Plant in Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh. He also appreciated the efforts towards commissioning activities of NMDC’s 3.0 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant at Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh.

He appreciated the initiatives taken up by NMDC under its CSR initiatives especially improving the quality of life of the people who need support. Initiatives like: Women Health and Hygiene programmes; sponsoring professional studies (IIT, AIIMS, etc) of less privileged students, skill development towards self employment and income generation.

As a part of Republic Day celebrations various cultural programmes and games were conducted for the employees and their family members. Students from Guiding Light Foundation for the Orphans and Specially Abled, Hyderabad were part of cultural and musical performance which was appreciated by one and all.

Prizes were distributed to the winners in the sports and participants of cultural programmes organized on this august occasion.
