IAS officer Pramod Agrawal has assumed charge as the Chairman of public sector enterprise Coal India Limited

A 1991-Batch IAS Officer of Madhya Pradesh Cadre, Pramod Agrawal is the 28th Chairman of the CIL. Public Enterprise Selection Board had selected Pramod Agrawal for the post of CIL Chairman in Delhi last year.

Prior to taking charge at the CIL, Agrawal had been the Principal Secretary at the Urban Development and Housing Department in Madhya Pradesh. Pramod Agrawal replaced retiring CIL Chairman Anil Kumar Jha.

A resident of Ranchi, Pramod Agrawal completed education in Ramgarh. His family runs a Business in Ranchi. However, he is a native of Bihar. Pramod Agrawal has done M.Tech. After remaining on many posts in MP, he was deputed on the post of Director of Central Sports and Youth Affairs from 2010 to 2011. Thereafter, Agrawal was the Joint Secretary of Disinvestment Ministry from May 4, 2011, to January 20, 2014. Currently, Pramod Agrawal is the Principal Secretary of the Technical Education Department.
