Chhattisgarh paves way for societies to tie-up with private parties

Chhattisgarh government would be facilitating the cooperative societies in the state to partner with the public and private sector undertaking besides for investment.

The Bhupesh Baghel cabinet today approved the draft of Chhattisgarh Cooperative Society (Amendment) Ordinance 2020.

The Ordinance draft said any society might ink a partnership with any government undertaking, or any State Government undertaking or private entity for venturing into business. Besides investment, the societies could tie up for financial assistance, marketing and management expertise.

“Any cooperative society, with the simple majority of members present and voting in the General Assembly, can render support via resolution passed in its general assembly,” state’s parliamentary affairs minister Ravindra Choubey said. It is mandatory for the cooperative society to get prior permission of the state government in each case before making such cooperation.

The move of the state government is seen a big leap forward for the promoting the primary societies for exploring market and business. Chhattisgarh had been endowed with rich art and culture. Its handicraft designed from bell-metal or wood had been fascinating the visitors. But the products could not find place in the big showrooms.

Moreover, the development could also boost up state government’s efforts to promote bio-fuel and ethanol production. Chhattisgarh Government had decided to set up at least 6 biofuel plants to produce ethanol in the state. It will be the first state in India to use rice and paddy husk to produce the biofuel.

The state government required to involve the societies that would need investment to start-up.
