Raipur. Senior IAS officer Subodh Kumar Singh has been appointed as the director general of the National Testing Agency as part of a bureaucratic reshuffle effected by the Centre.

IAS Subodh Kumar Singh of 1997 batch of Chhattisgarh cadre is originally from Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Singh presently holds the position of additional secretary in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Department of Food and Public Distribution.

On August 15, 1973, Subodh Kumar Singh was born into a pretty regular household. His father was a elementary school teacher. However, he had a good education and was raised well. Since he was young, Subodh showed promise. He chose to major in engineering. He graduated from Roorkee, one of the best IITs in the nation, with a BE and subsequently a ME in Electrical Engineering. He received a First Division with Distinction in BE. After that, he earned a First Division on the Master of Engineering test. Additionally, he holds an IGNOU MBA in business administration.

Young people in various adjacent areas were inspired by Subodh Singh's achievement as an IAS in 1997, which led to a large number of other eligible UPSC applicants being selected and appointed to the IAS. After completing the IAS Academy in 1998, Subodh was hired for his first position as an Assistant Collector in the Mandla district. He was then chosen to serve as the district SDO for Korea. Later, when Chhattisgarh was split off into its own state, he was named the first District Panchayat CEO of Bastar. He was appointed Raigarh Collector in 2002, followed by appointment as MD of Markfed, and NAN, also served as the director of the Animal Directorate.

After the collectorate in Raigarh, Subodh Singh was temporarily derailed; nevertheless, he did not look back after that. He was appointed Raipur's collector in 2005. Following this, he was appointed collector of Bilaspur, and soon after Bilaspur, he was appointed collector of Raipur once again.

He is to be credited for launching the city bus service in both districts. He was promoted from Raipur Collector to Housing Board Commissioner. He was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Chief Minister's Secretariat in June 2009. then continue till 2018. He should be commended for incorporating technology into the workings of the CM Secretariat while maintaining transparency in the public viewing procedure.

The Chhattisgarh Electricity Board was disbanded by the state government in 2009, and five new firms were formed. The distribution business had a close relationship with the end users, or individuals. Taking use of his knowledge in electrical engineering, Subodh Singh insisted on enhancing the distribution company's system. People used to pay their power bills by waiting in queue; thus, to address this issue, he first linked it to an ATP machine before enabling online payments.

After applying for the electricity meter, the method of adding new connection was made more transparent and user-friendly in his regime, so that the connection can be given in the least time after applying. He also introduced online auction to The Mineral Department.
